ORLAND – Frances E. Soper, 75, died April 5, 2011, with her loving family by her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 26, 1935, in Hope, the daughter of Archie B. and Lillian (Campbell) Reed.
She loved taking care of her family; they were a very important part of her life. She loved to hunt, fish and go camping, enjoyed trips to Foxwoods for the slots, and wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., with her husband. Frances operated a take out stand in Orland called Fran’s Place, worked for Grindle Insurance and served as tax assessor for the town of Orland. She loved to attend her class reunions every year.
Frances is survived by her husband of 50 years, Earl L. Soper Sr. of Orland; daughters, Bobbi Esancy-Lake and husband, Russell, of Eddington and Louise Lowell and husband, David, of Searsport; sons, Earl L. Soper Jr. and Dennis Soper, both of Orland; grandchildren, Amber and Gary Wood, Amanda Carpenter and Rob DeSantis, Nichole and Paul Foster, Eric and Megan Curtis, ArRon and Russell Hughes, Ben Albert and Erin Curtis, Blake Walker, Noel Soper, Sheena and Willy Cottle, David Soper, Joseph Soper and Dylan Soper; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Wood, Kyla Solletti, Sophia Carpenter, Nicholas Curtis, Andrew Curtis, Amaya Hughes, Luke Hughes, Lilly Hughes and Kristina Carter; one brother, Donald Reed of Michigan; one sister, Ellen Cunningham and husband, Monty, of Vassalboro; one sister-in-law, Mary Soper of Orland; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Jerry Edward Murphy, Alvira Glidden, Willis Reed and John Reed; brothers-in-law, John Soper and Everett Soper; and sister-in-law, Janette Montgomery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be later in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Orland.
