DEXTER – Roger W. “Gee” Wintle, 75, died April 12, 2011, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Dexter, son of Charles and Marion (Clukey) Wintle.
Roger served honorably for several years in the U.S. Air Force, returning home early to assist his family. A lifelong resident of this area, he worked for many years at Dexter Shoe Co., Dexter. Roger was an outstanding athlete, and was a longtime sports enthusiast, and loved going his children’s and grandchildren’s games.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Wilma (Sinclair) Wintle of Dexter; two daughters, Michelle McMillan and Lisa Wintle, both of Wells; a son, David Wintle of Dexter; two brothers, James and Robert, both of Dexter; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; good friend and cousin, Richard Clukey and his wife, Martha, of Dexter; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley, with Pastor Will Walters officiating.
