NEW SWEDEN – Clifton A. Anderson, 81, passed away April 26, 2011, with his family by his side at home. Clifton was born Aug. 8, 1929, on the family farm in New Sweden, to Anton and Dora (Larson) Anderson.

Clifton attended New Sweden schools, and later farmed with his father until he was drafted in the Army, where he served from 1952 to 1954. After his discharge from the service, he worked 20 years as a construction foreman for Brescia Construction Co. He then went to work for International Paper Co. as a foreman at Blackstone Siding, where he worked for nine years, after which he worked 11 years as a wood yard supervisor at Columbia Forest Products, Presque Isle. He then worked five years at Lane Construction until his retirement. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 136. Clifton loved gardening, hunting and fishing. He also loved camping with his family. He was a special uncle to all of his nephews and nieces. He had special memories of them visiting on the farm when they were little so he could give them rides on the “Little Ford Tractor.”

He is survived by his wife, Irma Anderson of New Sweden; two sons, Craig and his wife, Sharon Anderson, of Stockholm and Mark Anderson of New Sweden; two special grandchildren, Spc. Patrick Daniel Lausier and Gabriella Joy, who were his pride and joy; two sisters, Ina Noel of Millbury, Mass., and Clarice Helstrom and her husband, Marshall, of Brewer; one brother, Gilbert “Mickey” Anderson of Millbury, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Anderson of Caribou and Francine Anderson of Madawaska Lake and Florida; and one brother-in-law, Fred Michaud of Florida. In addition to his parents, Clifton was predeceased by eight sisters, Audrey Thorsen, Viola Sturgeon, Evelyn Archer, Irene Tetreault, Louise Pude, Doris Michaud, Jeannette Goranson and Rosella Anderson; and four brothers, George, Andrew, Clyde and Leslie.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the funeral home with the Rev.
