BANGOR – Dorothy A. Fielder, 81, died April 25, 2011, at a local nursing home. She was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Orono, daughter of Thomas W. and Ethel C. (Watson) Porter.

Dorothy graduated from Orono High School, Class of 1948. She worked at the University of Maine, and the city of Bangor for 20 years. Dorothy was a proud member of the Jaycees.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Dan Fielder; two brothers, Roland and Jack Porter; and nephew, Johnny. Dorothy is survived by her son, David Fielder and his wife, Karen, of Brewer; a daughter-in-law, Becky Fielder of Levant, widow of Dan Fielder; four grandchildren, Devon Fielder, Jill Fielder, Judy Bruce and Eric Fielder and his wife, Angie Bortel; one great-grandchild, Edda Bortel-Fielder; several nephews; special friends, Mai, Long and their two sons, Thien and Nhan “Sweetie,” who Dottie loved as her own; and her close friends at 173 Pine St. The family expresses a special thank you to Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and New Hope Hospice for the kind care given to Dorothy.

A memorial reception will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
