HAMPDEN – Wilbur Casson Hill, 75, passed away unexpectedly May 3, 2011, in Winterport. Wilbur was born June 7, 1935, in East Corinth, to Kenneth and Evelyn (Duran) Hill.
Wilbur was raised in Corinth and was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute. He then attended New Brunswick Bible Institute and then joined the Army Reserves. He worked as a truck driver for General Electric for 27 years and then for Carlen Transport as an over-the-road truck driver for another 10 years. He was a steady force in the West Hampden Baptist Church family and could be found attending services regularly. Wilbur will be remembered as a tireless worker, a loving husband, father, grand-father, brother and friend.
Wilbur is survived by his 94-year-old mother, Evelyn; his loving wife of 33 years, Donna M. (Ivey) Hill; his daughter, Tammy Higgins and husband, Neil; a stepson, Kevin Ivey; grandchildren, Carl Little, Brian Curtis and Krista Perkins; siblings, Kenlyn Weymouth and husband Jr., Nathan Hill and wife, Sue, Carroll Hill and wife, Cathy, Becky Tingley and husband, Ken, Isaiah Hill and wife, Laurene, Judith Gellerson, John Hill and wife, Shirley, Pat Sinclair and husband, Jerry, Fred Hill and wife, Sharon, and Lois Hill; as well as several nieces and nephews. Wilbur was predeceased by his father; and a grandson, Timothy Hill.
Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, at West Hampden Baptist Church, 574 Western Ave., Hampden, with Pastor Charles G. Farley officiating.
