LINCOLN – Atwood H. Moore passed away peacefully at home May 17, 2011. He was born June 5, 1917, the third son of Roscoe and Yensie Moore and grew up with his nine siblings in Saponac.
After attending grammar school in Saponac, he attended Brewer High. Then he worked in the woods as a carpenter and for 32 years at Lincoln Pulp and Paper as a millwright until his retirement in June 1980. He enjoyed his years there and the friends that he made. While enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and building, his passion was for automobiles, from a Model T to present day. He restored many vehicles including a 1931 Model A, and acquired a 1927 Model T and a 1935 Ford Coupe. He and his wife, Alice, made many friends and took many trips by joining several car clubs in Maine. For several years, Atwood and Alice traveled throughout the lower 48 states and many provinces in Canada enjoying the beauty of the land. And, he was a very good cook!
He was predeceased by his wife, Alice and their son, Atwood H. Moore Jr. He was also predeceased by his nine siblings, brothers: Irvin, Calvin, Lawrence, Roscoe Jr.; sisters, Grace Moore, Lila Whitten, Lucille Rich, Annie Emery and Gertrude Gaudette.
