MADAWASKA – George “Martin” Ringuette, 76, passed away June 14, 2011, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Madawaska, son of the late Alphy and Angelina (Cimon) Ringuette.
Martin was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Thomas O. Cyr, Post No. 147 and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638, also of Madawaska. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort Kent. He worked for 42 years at Fraser Papers, until his retirement in 1996. Martin was a happy-go-lucky guy who loved to laugh and was always ready for any activity. He was a jack-of-all-trades and fixed many things around the house.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Claudette (Cloutier) Ringuette; one daughter, Denise Beaulieu and her husband, Dale, of Madawaska; one son, John Ringuette and his wife, Carole, of Madawaska; three grandchildren, Brittany Cyr, Megan and Brandon Ringuette, all of Madawaska; two sisters, Jackie Violette of Madawaska and Pierrette Peterson and her husband, Mark, of St. Agatha; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, at St. Thomas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will take place immediately after at the parish cemetery.
