DEXTER – Stanley C. Tenney, 65, died June 12, 2011, at a Dexter health care facility. He was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Dexter, a son of David and Blanche (Tupper) Tenney.
When Stan was 14, he started working at Dexter Exxon and learned to be a mechanic. He later worked at Hartley’s in Corinna as a mechanic, and later returned to
Dexter Exxon to own and operate it for 23 years. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, sky diving, stock car racing, scuba diving and spending time with his grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden and Ameilia Greaves, and Logan Tenney.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Leighton) Tenney of Dexter; a son, Steven of Rhode Island; son and daughter-in-law, John and Crystal Greaves of Dexter; a brother, Herbert of Dexter; and sisters, Caroline and husband, Charlie Fish, of Dexter, Carmalene and husband, Vinal Shorey, of Burlington. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen; and a brother, Robert.
A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 17 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Maine, P.O. Box 8730, Portland, ME 04104.
