FORT KENT – Phydime Pelletier Jr., 80, died June 17, 2011, at Forest Hill Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 29, 1931, in Eagle Lake, son of Phydime and Nathalie Pelletier.
Phydime is survived by his loving wife, Doris, daughter of Josephel and Antoinette Voisine. They were married for 58 years, and raised eight children and two foster girls together, Donna and Galen Bernier, Donald and Debbie Pelletier, Kim Pelletier, Louise and Justin Lamontagne, Janelle and David Saucier, Faye Deprey, Gary and Ursula Pelletier, Gregory and Guylaine Pelletier, Theresa and Robert Michaud, and Albertine and Edward Spagnola. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Jessica; and two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Madeline.
He proudly served in the Korean War for two years. He became a member of Knights of Columbus in 1958. He was also involved with Veterans of Foreign Wars for 40 years. Phydime was employed by Eagle Lake Nursing Home as head of maintenance for 25 years. He also was a member of the volunteer fire department, which he greatly enjoyed, serving his community with his many friends. He loved spending time with his family and friends, but also enjoyed quiet time reading novels. Phydime enjoyed working in the garden, hunting, cooking and helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Friends may call 2 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday, June 21, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full fourth degree and military honors will be celebrated 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent.
