CUSHING – John R. Fales, 61, died unexpectedly from health complications June 15, 2011, surrounded by his family at Maine Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1949, in Rockland, to Richard and Elaine Fales.
He was the sixth generation owner/operator of A.S. Fales & Son general store, Cushing. He was a member of Cushing Rescue Squad and Fire Department. In his spare time he loved to go fishing and tell his stories over coffee at the store.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Fales of Cushing; his parents, Richard and Elaine Fales of Cushing; three daughters, Jo Fales of Warren, Heather and her husband, DJ Blais, of San Diego and Kelly J. Fales and her husband, Robert Burns, of Cushing; a sister, Marie and her husband, Arthur Pease, of Thomaston; a brother, James Fales and his wife, Caroline, of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Brittany Lee Fales, Hillary Jo Fales-Haynes, Devin Jacob Fales Blais and Lizzie Claire Blais; and one great-grandchild, Mikayla Harmony Boyinton.
A celebration of his life was held June 20 outside of Fales Store, Cushing. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Friends of Cushing Rescue Squad, P.O.
