SCARBOROUGH – Scott Michael Osgood, 52, beloved son, brother and uncle, died July 3, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 10, 1959, in Millinocket, son of Mary (Caruso) and Richard Osgood.

Scott graduated from Schenck High School, East Millinocket, in 1977 and from University of Maine, Orono, in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Scott had worked at UNUM since 1995, and was proud to be part of the company and the work in disability insurance he did there. He displayed a kindness and compassion to clients who needed his assistance. An independent and introspective man, he frequently walked the beach at Pine Point, Scarborough, accompanied by his constant companions, his two Yorkshire terriers, Jack and Andy. He loved his family and was especially close with his nieces and nephews, and was a great friend to many, namely, Peggy, Ed, Kelly and Ron. He will be greatly missed for his wit and humor.

Scott is survived by his parents of East Millinocket; sister, Deborah Johansen and her husband, Herluf, and their daughter, Kirsten, of Yarmouth; sister, Stephanie Osgood of Millinocket and her two children: daughter, Emily Cavicchi and her husband, Jarrod, of Rhode Island, and son, Jeremy Rush of Winterport; brother, Richard J. Osgood and his wife, Kimberly, and their daughters, Risha and Mia, and son, Addison, of Dedham; brother, Jeffry Osgood and his wife, Sandra, and their son, Alexander, of New Jersey; sister, Mary Kay Hallett and her husband, Mark, and their son, Aaron, and daughter, Abby, of Hermon; special aunt, Kay Caruso of Millinocket; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 326 Main St., Yarmouth. Burial will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
