AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Democrats have found a candidate to challenge Republican Nancy Thompson in a special election to fill a vacancy in Maine House District 121.
Kim Monaghan-Derrig of Cape Elizabeth will be the Democratic candidate on the ballot on Aug. 16 to fill the seat vacated by Cynthia Dill. Dill, a Democrat, left her House seat to wage a successful campaign for an open state Senate seat.
Lizzy Reinholt, Maine Democratic Party spokeswoman, says the local committee selected Monoghan-Derrig on Thursday night. Her paperwork has been submitted.
