BANGOR – Roger A. Luce, 79, passed away July 9, 2011, to join his daughter in the Lord’s house. He was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Oakland, the son of George and Maude Luce.

Roger grew up in Oakland, graduated from Williams High School and after four years in the U.S. Navy, he attended and graduated from Bentley College, Boston, and Husson College, Bangor. After several years in public accounting he became the controller at Magazines Inc. and Mr. Paperback until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed family and people, the computer, sports, puzzles, fishing, and outside activities.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene Luce of Bangor; a brother, Harvey of Carmarillo, Calif.; a sister, Joan Kerr and husband, John, of Oakland; a brother-in-law, Robert McTaggart and wife, Pat, of Longmeadow, Mass., several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the love of his life, his daughter, Lynne Marie Luce, in 2007; and her dog, Barney II.

A graveside memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, with Pastor Steven Smith, pastor of Orono United Methodist Church, officiating.
