SHELTON, Conn. – Andrew Allen Glowa, 51, formerly of Ballground, Ga., passed away July 11, 2011, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, Conn. He was born April 21, 1960, in Bridgeport, Mass., son of John and Margaret Beaton Glowa.

Mr. Glowa was a graduate of Shelton High School, Class of 1980, and also a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, Conn., where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He was in the woodworking industry for two decades, and was a salesman for Guhdo USA, Marietta, Ga., for 10 years. He was an avid fan of the UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams and loved fishing, coaching his son Mike’s sports teams, and attending his daughter Andrea’s recitals.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Michael Glowa; and daughter, Andrea Glowa, both of Ballground, Ga.; two brothers, Steven of Shelton, Conn., and John and his companion, Joanne, of South China; three nephews, John Glowa and Joseph Glowa, both of Maine, and Jeffrey Glowa of Connecticut; one niece, Leanne Honious and her husband, Zane, of Middletown, Conn.; several aunts and cousins; special friend, Karin Deutschler; and neighbors, Mary Anne, Rachel, Eileen and Jim O’Hara for their loving support to him and his family. Andrew’s loving spirit, and caring and giving heart will be sadly missed.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton, Conn., where calling hours will be held 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton, Conn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
