OXFORD, Conn. – Robert “Bob” Gordon, 87, formerly of Middletown, Conn., beloved husband of Grace (Tringali) Gordon, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011, at Danbury Hospital. Born July 17, 1923, in Middletown, Conn., he was the son of the late William Brier and Harriet (Wragg) Gordon.

Bob graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1941 and attended the University of Connecticut. He owned and operated Gordon Dairy until 1954, selling to Brock Hall Dairy. During his long career as manager, he ran branches of Brock Hall Dairy for many years, worked for Marcus Dairy, and owned and operated Clover Lawn Dairy. He was the consummate salesman in the dairy and food industry his whole career. An avid snow and water skier, he was active in Brookfield Ski Club for many years. He also lived in Middletown, Conn., Brookfield, Conn., Naples, Fla., and most recently Oxford, Conn.

Bob was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by two daughters, Lee Gill and husband, William, of Oxford, Conn., and Robin Faulkner and husband, Andrew, of Newburgh; two sons, Scott Gordon of Torrington, Conn., and Gary Gordon and wife, Karen Gordon, of Bridgewater, Conn.; a sister, Ruth Colter of Branford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, Noel, Jason and Sean Gill of Bethel, Conn., Melissa Rowland of Tolland, Conn., Scott, Ben and Josh Gordon of Torrington, Conn., Gary Gordon Jr. of Manchester, Conn., Chad Gordon of Bennington, Vt., and Lindsay Savage of Newburgh; 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Doris Gordon of Middletown, Conn., and Vivian Treadwell of Higganum, Conn.; and brothers, Edward Gordon and Malcolm Gordon, also of Middletown, Conn.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in the chapel of The Church of the Holy Trinity, 381 Main St., Middletown, Conn., with the Rev. Margaret H. Minnick officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown, Conn. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown, Conn.
