BANGOR – Alice M. Rivers died July 19, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Bangor, daughter of Angus M. and Gertrude M. (Cox) Kilby.

Alice graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1943. She married Paul E. Rivers, and they celebrated 35 years of marriage. Alice was a homemaker, a great cook, and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very spunky and kind person. Alice enjoyed knitting and spending time in the company of young children. She volunteered working with children in a local area elementary school, YMCA and Penquis CAP Day Care. She was the very first resident of Freese’s Building, Bangor.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Rivers; and 11 older brothers and sisters. Alice is survived by three sons, James Rivers and his wife, Irene, of Bangor, George Rivers of Caledonia, Wis., and Gerald Rivers of Bangor; one daughter, Cindy Rivers of Hermon; and several grandchildren.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
