BANGOR – Lewis J. Tucker, 86, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Danforth, son of Ernest and Claire (Butters) Tucker.
Lewis grew up in Danforth and attended local schools. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. Lewis spent more than 30 years in the fire protection industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and was an outdoor enthusiast.
Lewis is survived by his son, Robert Tucker of Bangor; daughter, Rebecca Pappas-Jones of Penobscot; brothers, Paul Tucker and his wife, Brenda, of Milford, and George Tucker of Stillwater; sister, Marjorie Tripp of Dedham; grandchildren, Megan Tucker of Bangor, Christin Tucker of Bangor, Cassady Pappas of Portland and Christopher Pappas of Bangor; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (St. John); brother, Edward; and sisters, Althea, Beulah and Fern.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to gather 1:45 p.m. at the Superintendent’s Lodge, State Street entrance.
