VEAZIE and DELTONA, Fla. -Mary “Betty” (O’Leary) Beede, 88, died Sunday, July 31, 2011. She was born July 11, 1923, in West Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Doris (Foley) O’Leary.

Betty will always be remembered as someone everyone loved, and for her beautiful, expressive eyes. She was a great conversationalist and when she talked to you, she made you feel like you were the only person in the world. A lifelong volunteer, Betty was past president of University Women at the University of Maine, Orono. She had a degree in art and was an amazing artist. She loved her time spent in Florida and the Bahamas. Her life revolved around her family and children, who she loved with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Ann Dalfonso. She is survived by her sons, Scott Beede and his wife, Gail, of Otis, Charles Beede and his wife, Joyce, of the Bahamas and James Beede and his girlfriend, Robin Wasson, of Brewer; daughters, Carol Colson and her husband, Steve, of Veazie and Elaine Harvey and her husband, Randall, of Bangor; sister, Doris Wentworth and her husband, Jim, of Veazie; brother, Charles O’Leary and his wife, Pamela, of Orono; grandchildren, Jill Dalfonso of Boston, and Tyler and Charlie Harvey of Bangor; son-in-law, Dan Dalfonso of South Portland; nieces, Ann, Susan, Anne and Kate; special caregivers, Melanie Pomeroy and Dr. Allan Currie; and a countless number of friends.

Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor. Interment will be afterward at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
