SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Hazel O. Norwood died peacefully July 29, 2011, in Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Steuben, daughter of Wilbur C. and Christie U. (Pinkham) Parritt.

After graduating from Steuben High School she worked in Southwest Harbor. It was there that she met Herschel A. Norwood, who became her husband; they were married for nearly 70 years. In the past she enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, cooking, many kinds of needlework, sketching, traveling and being a very active member of American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sandra Gott and Stan; son, Richard Norwood and Laurel; granddaughter, Allison Macmaster and Lance; great-grandson, Benjamin Macmaster; sister, Christie U. Smith; two half brothers, Robert and James Parritt; many extended family members and friends. She was recently predeceased by her sister, Dixie Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
