BLAINE and MONTICELLO -With her family at her side, Patricia Marie Brewer, 79, passed from this world into heaven Aug. 6, 2011, at The Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. The daughter of William and Leda (Theriault) Brown, she was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Fort Kent.

When Pat was 7 years old, her family relocated to Houlton, where she lived and attended school. She was a 1950 graduate of Houlton High School. After graduating high school, Pat worked as a nursing assistant for the two local hospitals. On March 26, 1951, Pat married her best friend and true love, Jay A. Brewer. Together they built a long, loving marriage that lasted 60 years. They raised their three children in a home filled with happiness, mutual respect and love. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family, and she loved teasing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat enjoyed reading, watching old movies and cooking for her crowd. She enjoyed going to camp, having picnics, knitting and crocheting. She was a 39-year member of Monticello Grange, a member of Aroostook Pomona Grange, Maine State Grange and National Grange. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Houlton, and St. Joseph’s Parish, Mars Hill. During the last year of Pat’s life, she was a resident of The Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill, where she received excellent care. The staff members were not only caregivers, but also family and friends.

Along with her husband, Jay, Pat leaves behind her son, Peter Jay Brewer and his wife, Jo, of Houlton; her daughter, Jan Marie Martin and her husband, Michael, of Monticello; her baby, Susie Jayne Tweedie and her husband, Michael, of Blaine; their faithful companion, Smoky; 11 grandchildren: Christopher and Lynnette, Jayson and Rachel, Patrick and Robbin Brewer, all of Houlton, Christopher and Tracey Martin of Bangor, Margaret (Martin) and Michael Blevins of Mars Hill, Daniel and Tracey Martin of Phoenix, Joshua and Jennifer Tweedie of Blaine, Timothy and Erica Tweedie of Houlton, Elizabeth (Tweedie) and Craig Allen of Blaine, Michelle (Tweedie) and Taylor McLaughlin of Mars Hill and Jeremy Tweedie of Blaine; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl “Mac” Brown and Reynold “Pete” Brown of Connecticut; special friend, Ethel Knox; and many other extended family members. Her parents; and her older brother, C. Harry Brown, predeceased her. The Brewer family expresses their deepest gratitude to the employees of The Aroostook Health Center, Dr. Eric Nicholas and Dr. Ted Sussman for the excellent care given to their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Visitation Church with Father David Raymond officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be in the Old St. Mary’s Cemetery.
