GREENVILLE – Scott R. Goodspeed, 63, died peacefully Aug. 8, 2011, with family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Formerly of Grafton, Mass., Scott moved to Wells after marrying his wife, Cheri Coulton Goodspeed. They ran their restaurant, Merriland Ridge in Wells, for 10 years before moving to Greenville. Scott was passionate about his work and his career took him all over the world, most recently working for Farr Air Pollution Control, Jonesboro, Ark. His contributions to the thermal spray community included companies such as Bay State Abrasives, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric and Rolls Royce, and made many lasting relationships and friends that he cherished. Before moving to Maine, he was a call firefighter in Grafton, Mass., and retired as a lieutenant for Ladder Company 1 after 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cheri of Greenville; a daughter, Kelly and her husband, Chas Allen, and their children, Tabitha and Sam, of Hardwick, Mass.; a son, Dale and his wife, Danielle, and their children, Cadence and Wesley, of North Grafton, Mass.; a daughter, Erica Rose of Ogunquit; and Scott and Cheri’s furry, loving companion, Lily.
