BAILEYVILLE – Gary F. Moore Sr., 73, passed away Aug. 17, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born Aug. 19, 1937, son of Herbert Weston and Irene (Lyons) Moore.

Gary grew up in Pembroke and always enjoyed telling his family about his younger years spent there. In 1960, he moved to Baileyville – Woodland and married Donna Rodgers. Gary worked in the auto body business from age 14, starting at Dunn’s Auto Body and then opened his own business, Moore’s Auto Body, in 1971, where he was later joined by his son, Gary Jr. Years ago Gary, unknowingly to everyone, bought a truck – a 1954 Ford – and so started his love affair with his truck. Gary enjoyed cleaning and polishing his truck, and entering various parades and shows in the local areas, for which he won many trophies. His truck has also been a very big part of his family, as they would sometimes join him for events. He was also honored to take his two oldest granddaughters to their weddings in his truck, whether in torrential rain or sun. Gary was always a very generous man and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He also enjoyed chatting with his friends at Baileyville Big Stop.

Gary was predeceased by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Edna Dubois. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna (Rodgers) Moore; a sister, Helen Elsemore and husband, Dennis, of Princeton; a brother, Waverly Moore and wife, Bette, of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Deborah Daggett and her companion, Rob Campbell, of Brownville Junction; a son, Gary Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Baileyville; grandchildren, Leslie Monk and husband, Scott, Melanie Cochran and husband, Chris, Zachary Moore and wife, Ruby, Whitney Moore and fiance, Chad Kneeland; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Monk, Madisyn and Ayden Cochran, Duncan and Audrina Moore; a sister-in-law, Doris Pike and her husband, Sonny, of South Princeton; a brother-in-law, Robert Wayne Rodgers of Virginia Beach, Va.; a special aunt, Merna Damon of Charlotte; many special friends, including Les Daggett, who accompanied him to many parades, and Don and Sylvia Brown; many nieces, nephews and cousins, many friends; and two special canine friends, Maggie Mae and Daisy Mae.
