LINCOLN – John A. Powers, 65, husband of the late Lorna (Libby) Powers, passed away Aug. 18, 2011, at a Brewer health care facility after a long illness. He was born May 1, 1946, in Lincoln, son of Earl and Birdie (Caco) Powers.

John retired as a longtime firefighter from Lincoln Fire Department and Mattawamkeag Fire Department

He is survived by his children, Leah Toby and her husband, Graylin, Rhonda Brown and her husband, Phil, Robin Powers, Robert Powers and his wife, Lynn, and Heather Pinet and her husband, Sylvain; grandchildren, Chris, Devin, Kassie, Sylvain, Jacob, Katarina, Scoty, Lorna, Danica, Kira, Kimmi and Michael; great-grandchildren, Johnathan and Kyleigh; four sisters and their husbands, Tammy Smith and Billy, Lori Severance and Bev, Ella Waltz and Wesley, and Erlene Grindell and Les; many nieces and nephews; and a special ex-daughter-in-law, Eileen Shaw. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Little John; a longtime sidekick, Bo; a sister, Jackie Ann; and grandparents, Jack and Pearl Caco.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
