MILO — Max McHugh netted four goals to lead the Central High School Red Devils to an 8-1 girls soccer victory over the Penquis Valley Patriots Saturday.

Taylor Robichaud contributed two goals for 1-0 Central of Corinth. Megan Wittine, Remay Burke, and Sagilia Pinkin added a goal each. Samantha Brownwell made seven saves.

Alexis Larson tallied a goal for 0-1 Penquis and Hannah Beff made 42 saves.

Bangor 4, Lawrence 2

At Bangor, Ashley Robinson’s second goal of the game, 11 minutes into the second half, snapped a 2-2 tie en route to the victory in the mutual opener.

Hanna Colpritt chipped in with a goal and an assist for Bangor and Libby Huber added a goal. Grace Maclean notched two assists and Mia Smith made three saves on six shots.

Faith Forsythe and Hannah Sheperd each scored a goal for the Bulldogs of Fairfield and Ashley Yanhel made 12 saves on 22 shots.

Schenck 5, DI-Stonington 1

At East Millinocket, Laura Nicholson scored three goals and Gabrielle Deloge added two to power the Wolverines to victory.

Catherine Hale, Courntey Terry and Morgan Thompson each added an assist for the winners and Kristin Thompson made 10 saves on 13 shots.

Janelle Ciomei scored for Deer Isle-Stonington and Chiann Closson made 14 saves on 25 shots.

Caribou 5, WA Raiders 0

At East Machias, Katelynn Tardie registered four unassisted goals to power Caribou by Washington Academy.

Hannah Hebert added a goal on a penalty kick in the second half for the 3-0-1 Vikings. Morgan Swan faced no shots in goal.

Jessie Hardy made six saves on 19 shots for the 0-1 Raiders.

Ellsworth 4, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Annika Firestone netted two unassisted goal as Ellsworth shut out Bucksport.

Kaiti Kinney and Mackenzie Myers each chipped in with a goal for the 1-0 Eagles. Taylor White and Heather Holt each tallied an assist. Jessica Toothaker stopped all six shots she faced.

Bailey Blair made five saves on nine shots for the 0-1 Golden Bucks.

Presque Isle 4, Old Town 0

At Presque Isle, Kayla Richards notched a hat trick as Presque Isle shut out Old Town.

Chandler Guerrette added a goal for 1-0-1 Preaque Isle. Chelsea Nickerson, Hannah Graham, and Elise Jones tallied an assist each. Meredith Stewart made four saves on six shots.

Ashey Abbot made 15 saves on 20 shots for 0-1 Old Town.

Rangeley 2, Greenville 1

At Rangeley, Sandra Campbell scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining in the season-opening game as Rangeley snuck past Greenville.

Ashley Abbot added a goal for Rangeley and Taylor Bean made 15 saves on 16 shots.

Greenville’s Miranda Drinkwater tallied a goal and Carli Peat made three saves on five shots for the 0-2 Lakers.

Hermon 4, Orono 1

At Orono, Kaitlin Saulter procured three unassisted goals to propel Hermon by Orono in the season opener.

Molly Roy scored an unassisted goal in the first half for the 1-0 Hawks. Mikayla Treadwell made five saves on 11 shots.

Diana Tyutyunnyk netted the lone goal for the 0-1 Red Riots in the second half. Taylor Gray stopped six of 13 shots.

Penobscot Valley 3, PCHS 0

At Guilford, Meghan King opened the scoring with a first-half goal off a corner kick and Kassy Taylor iced the season-opening win for the Howlers of Howland with a pair of second-half scores.

Eliza Pelletier and Bethany Heald registered assists for Penobscot Valley, and Jocelyn Rhomas made 12 saves on 16 shots.

For 0-1 Piscataquis Community High School, Abby Burdin made 12 saves on 18 shots.

Dexter 6, Foxcroft 0

At Dexter, Macie Melvin completed a hat trick with three goals as the Tigers roared past the Ponies.

Michaela White scored twice for 1-0 Dexter, Christine May tallied once and Emily Sevey and Alison Pease picked up assists. MacKenzie McKusick faced one shot and didn’t have to make a save.

Savannah Hobbs recorded 14 saves on 28 shots for 0-1 Foxcroft.

Bangor 1, Lawrence 0

At Bangor, Alex Shi tallied the only goal of the game 1:46 into the second half on a pass from Connor Griffin to lift Bangor past Lawrence of Fairfield.

Liam Harrigan made 13 saves on 15 shots for the 1-0 Rams.

Max Kenney stopped five of 10 shots for the 0-1 Bulldogs.

Bangor Christian 9, Katahdin 0

At Bangor, Brad Wilcox netted two goals and picked up two assists as Bangor Christian rolled past Katahdin of Stacyville.

Seth Pearson also scored two goals for the 1-0 Patriots. Sam Proctor posted a goal and an assist. Rem Poulin, David Peters, Kyle Holmes and Ben Bragg each added a goal. Jay Bishop chipped in with two assists. Caleb Perry stopped two of three shots.

Cody Brownlee made 24 saves on 41 shots for the 0-2 Cougars.

Hermon 1, Orono 1 (2OT)

At Hermon on Friday, Kevin Frederick scored the game-tying goal for Hermon with 18:08 left in the first half as the Hawks and Orono battled to a tie through two overtimes.

Nick Carle picked up the assist on the tying goal for the Hawks. Hunter Clukey stopped nine of 10 shots.

Miguel Caballero scored an unassisted goal for the Red Riots with 20:00 left in the first. Conor McKaig made 19 saves on 20 shots.

Greenville 6, Rangeley 0

At Rangeley, Tristan Richards scored a goal and added two assists as Greenville cruised past Rangeley.

Henry Hersey tallied 2 goals for 1-0-1 Greenville. Matt DiAngelo, Steve Bilodeau, and Cody Watson added a goal each. Cory Henderson made 1 save on 1 shot for Greenville.

Carl Searles turned away 8 of the 14 shots he faced for 0-1-0 Rangeley.

Schenck 6, DI-Stonington 1

Ay East Millinocket, Matthew Thompson scored three goals and assisted on one to lead the Wolverines past the Mariners.

Jared Lyons, Adam Vienneau and Nathan Cram tallied the other goals for 1-0 Schenck, and Vienneau and Derrick Tanous posted assists. Jared Albert and Jon Chiasson combined to make eight saves on 10 shots.

Kevin Melanio scored for 0-1 Deer Isle-Stonington with an assist by Tyler Bartlett. Hayden Torrey made 20 saves on 28 shots.

Field hockey

Dexter 9, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Sarah Eastman and Peyton Watson scored two goals apiece to spark Dexter by Hermon.

Whitney Mower, Hillary Mower and Elise Cyr each added a goal for the 2-0 Tigers. Libby Kain picked up three assists while Eastman had one. Maicee Gustin stopped the only shot she faced.

Nicolette Hashey made 18 saves on 27 shots for the 0-2 Hawks.

Stearns 2, Piscataquis 0

At Millinocket, Sigrid Koizar scored two goals in the final 21 minutes of the game to lift Stearns past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Kirsten Manzo and Alex Mooney each registered an assist for the 1-1 Minutemen. Whitney Guy stopped eight of nine shots.

Jenna Chapman made 17 saves on 19 shots for the 0-2 Pirates.

Mount View 14, Stearns 6

At Larrabee Field in Knox on Saturday, Craig Nealley scored a pair of touchdowns as Mount View of Thorndike defeated defending Eastern Maine Class C champion Stearns of Millinocket in an LTC season opener.

Nealley scored on a 47-yard second-quarter run to give the Mustangs a 6-0 halftime lead, then after Stearns tied the game with a 58-yard kick return for a touchdown by Ryan Hibbs in the third quarter, the senior fullback scored on a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Senior quarterback Jay Babin then rushed for the two-point conversion to give coach Jack Brady’s club an eight-point advantage and help the Mustangs match their win total for the 2010 season.

At Calais, the Foxcroft Academy Ponies used a balanced attack and capitalized on three Calais-Woodland lost fumbles to earn their first victory of the season.

Chris Shorey was 3-for-4 passing for 87 yards and three touchdowns, including a 43-yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Smith in the first quarter.

The Ponies were led on the ground by Zac Smith who had five rushes for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Zac Smith had a 15-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 43-yard score in the third. Cody Coiley rushed the ball six times for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Calais-Woodland was led by Cordell Hold who had a 13-yard reception and 10 rushes for 31 yards.
