HAMLIN – Isabel F. Parent, 86, died Sept. 6, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Isabel was born Jan. 20, 1925, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of Ernest and Roseva (Loring) McCrossin.
Isabel lived in St. Leonard and as a teenager, her family moved to Van Buren. She was educated in St. Leonard and Van Buren. Isabel met her future husband, Gerard R. Parent, while working at W.T. Grant’s, Van Buren. Two and a half years later, they married on June 26, 1945 and settled in Hamlin. On June 26, 2011, they celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary. Isabel was a long standing member of the Van Buren Columbiettes.
In Hamlin, they raised eight children, Ken of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Gerri and Ralph Ronco of Sidney, Roberta Allen of Haverhill, Mass., Rudy and Dinah Parent, Tim Parent, Bill and Lisa Parent, Denise and Wayne Martin, all of Hamlin. Her son, Rick, passed away in 1975. Isabel is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ernestine Cooley of Jefferson City, Mo., Robert and Doris McCrossin of Claremont, N.H., Mary and Leon Malenfant of Westfield and Sun City Center, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rita McCrossin and brother, Joseph McCrossin and his wife, Lorraine.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, and 9-10:30 am. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Joseph’s Church, Hamlin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church by Father David Cote. Committal service and interment will be held in the parish cemetery.
