BAR HARBOR – Earle E. Thomas, 84, died Sept. 11, 2011, in Bar Harbor. He was born April 30, 1927, in Bar Harbor, son of Edgar and Laura (Williamson) Thomas.
He graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1946. Earle served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Morang-Robinson Ford Garage for 361/2 years. Earle was a member of Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge No. 185, Acadia Chapter No. 31, Blanqueford Commandary No. 13, Anah Temple of Bangor and Hancock County Shrine Club. Earle enjoyed camping and woodworking and will be remembered for his jokes and storytelling.
He is survived by his children, Donald “Jesse” Thomas and wife, Brenda, of Ellsworth, Susan T. Blaisdell, Laura W. Thomas, both of Bar Harbor, Cindy T. Flye of Manchester, Judy T. Lawson and companion, Bruce Jalbert, of Ellsworth, and Dencie T. McEnroe and husband, Michael, of Tremont; eight grandchildren, David and wife, Rebecca Thomas, Chad Thomas, Jake Blaisdell, Aaron Flye and companion, Nicole, Erik Flye, Jessica Flye, Cole McEnroe, and Jozette McEnroe; and two close friends, Putt Walls and Don “Deetle” Frost.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, where a Masonic service will be held 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held with military honors 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Leland Cemetery, Salisbury Cove.
