HOULTON – John G. McGary, 70, died Sept. 10, 2011, in Bangor. He was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Linneus, son of John and Blanche (Tarr) McGary.
He was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute, and attended Ricker College and Bethany Bible College. John was a car salesman for many years working in the Houlton area. His favorite hobbies were basketball and helping others.
He is survived by his siblings, Maxine Cummings of Houlton, Madeline Irish of Hodgdon, Fern Bubar of Houlton, Margaret Siltz of Linneus, and Carl McGary and his wife, Cheryl, of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Norma and Gertrude McGary; brother-in-law, William Scott; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Yvonne Scott; three brothers, Horace, Lloyd and Kelse; and four brothers-in-law, Chester Cummings, Milo Irish, Phillip Bubar and Joseph Siltz.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Houlton Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
