MACHIAS – Letitia Tibbetts passed away unexpectedly Sept. 15, 2011, at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Columbia Falls, the daughter of Harold and Lucy (Albee) Tyler.

She graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1945. She married Embert Tibbetts in April 1947. They raised four children, Jane, Embert Jr., Stephen and Renee. She enjoyed reading, word searches, sewing, quilting, canning, especially pickles, and watching the birds. She started working at Machias Laundromat in 1969 and continued through several owners to the present owners, who became special friends, Joanne and Cony Upton, of Machias Cleaning and Laundry Center. She met and made many friends through her work. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by daughter, Jane and son-in-law, Billy; son, Embert Jr. and companion, Suzette Grant, and her daughter, Erin; son, Stephen; daughter, Renee and son-in-law, Kyle Rogers; grandchildren, Wade, Will Coffin and wife, Sara, Kyle, Loni, Tyler and Tayler Tibbetts; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Cody, Shelby, Caitlyn, Brendon, Breanna, Brielle Coffin and Alexis Tibbetts; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Clara Donovan; and a brother, Harold Tyler Jr. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Embert Tibbetts Sr.; grandson, Timothy Coffin; and a sister, Marjorie Worcester.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias. She will be laid to rest at Indian River Cemetery, Jonesport. Condolences may be sent to
