PRESQUE ISLE – Helen M. Jandreau, 84, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness with her family by her side. She was born May 25, 1927, in Portage Lake, daughter of Allen and Annie (Pye) Good Morrow.
She attended East Hampton High School in Connecticut, graduating in 1944. After high school she returned to Presque Isle where she married Roland G. Jandreau and raised six children. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker and her work at A&P Plant, Fort Fairfield, as well as University of Maine Co-Operative Extension Service, Presque Isle. She also loved to play bingo, knitting, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Helen was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, as well as a member of Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith A. O’Neil and her husband, Jim, of Wallingford, Conn., Susan M. Scott and her husband, and Matthew, of Hampden; four sons, Donald G. Jandreau and his wife, Melanie, of Deland, Fla., Clifford “Kip” J. Jandreau of Panama City Beach, Fla., Chester P. Jandreau and his wife, Darla, of Martinsville, Ind., and Lester P. Jandreau and his wife, Vikki, of Mapleton; her precious 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers, William Good of Garfield and Arthur Good of Portage; two sisters, Kathleen Currier of Oxbow and Annabelle Adoff of Naples, Fla.; as well as many family members and friends too numerous to mention. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roland Jandreau; a sister, Laura Spurlin; and grandsons, Matthew Jandreau and Nicholas Scott.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Morency, celebrant.
