CARIBOU – Wayne B. Cousins, 61, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at his home. Wayne was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Portland, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Lagasse) Cousins.
Wayne retired as a sergeant first class after spending 20 years with the U.S. Army. Wayne was very proud of his service to his country, in addition to being stationed in South Korea and the Pentagon, he served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Caribou Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. While in the Army, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration, as well as a degree in culinary arts. Most recently, Wayne was a culinary arts instructor at Loring Job Corps. He loved working with the students there and was loved by all.
Wayne is survived by his best friend and first wife, Ula Cousins; and children, Pamela-Gail Howard and her husband, Trevor, of New Hampshire, Wayne B. Cousins Jr. of Belfast, Matthew E. Cousins of New Hampshire, Elizabeth M. Daggett of Belfast, Howard Maguire, and Michael Maguire of Massachusetts. He leaves behind grandchildren, Wayne, Peter, Kassandra, Abigail and Christian. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his second wife, Dianne Schneider.
