CARMEL – Horace F. Clukey, 85, died Oct. 1, 2011, at a local nursing home. He was born June 16, 1926, in Lincoln, the son of Horace and Elizabeth (Fogg) Clukey.
Horace attended Carmel schools, and was a member of Benevolent Lodge 87 AF & AM, Carmel, and Anah Shrine, Bangor. He worked 32 years for Maine Department of Transportation and he operated his own construction business.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Janice (Emery) Clukey; and a sister, Priscilla. He is survived by three daughters, Kristen Nicola of Carmel, Kathy Pierce and her husband, Butch, of Kenduskeag and Connie Lozier and her husband, Pete, of Hampden; six grandchildren, Barri Babcock and his wife, Heather, Craig Babcock and his wife, Patty, Carrie Pierce, Brian Pierce and friend, Sarah, DJ Glazier and companion, Michelle, and Heidi Dening and her husband, Scott; four great-grandchildren, Rikki and Andie Babcock, Ali and Jacob Dening; and one nephew, Jeff Blanchard.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
