BELFAST – Frederick L. Keniston, 77, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. Fred was born March 3, 1934, in Cape Jellison, Stockton Springs, son of Jesse and Nellie Keniston.

Fred loved to drive trucks.

He drove delivery trucks at a young age and eventually tractor-trailer trucks for Merrill Transport 15 years and Currier Trucking nine years. He loved road trips and meeting new people. In addition he worked for Dixmont schools as a janitor and drove school bus for Cyr Bus Line, Bangor and Belfast.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Keniston; three sons, Blaine Keniston and wife, Shelly, of Red Dear, Alberta, Stephen Sanford and wife, Ellen, of Raymond and Fred Keniston Jr. and wife, Julie, and their daughters, Arielle, Jacqueline, Corinne and Rachel, all of Guilford; one daughter, Juanita Bowden and husband, Stephen, and their sons, Shane, Trevor and Ashley Rawcliffe of Bucksport; two brothers, David Keniston and Joyce Tibbetts of Swanville and Ivan Keniston of Searsport; three sisters, Gladys Warman, Caroline Moulton and Rose Tibbetts, all of Belfast; along with special nieces, Karen Pidilla and husband, Alfred, of California and Gloria Jean Cross of Abbot. He is also survived by special friends, Ed and Marie Philbrook and Arthur and Clara Buzzell, all of Belfast; and his two beloved dogs, Penny and Ginger, who he always spoiled with candy.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by one son, Timothy, in 1964; beloved grandson, Little Stevie; granddaughter, Libby; one brother, Albert Keniston; and three sisters, Mae Hayward, Gertrude Primiterre and Evelyn Bryant. Many thanks to Dr. Rydell and the intensive care unit staff of St. Joseph Hospital for their kindness and excellent care.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake Road, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
