WINTER HARBOR – Ruthellen Sabo Torrey, 68, quietly passed away Sept. 26, 2011, in the loving arms of her family at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. Ruthellen was born May 30, 1943, in Bangor, daughter of the late Luke and Geraldine Sabo.

She worked many years as a waitress and hostess at local restaurants, where she is fondly remembered by customers and co-workers for her smile, humor and commitment to good service. However, Ruthellen’s greatest legacy was as a dedicated wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She took great pride in the success of her family. Her guidance, tremendous warmth and strength of character will continue to influence daily the lives of those she cherished and loved.

Ruthellen is survived by her beloved husband, Douglas Torrey; four children, Robin Wyzykowski and her husband, Michael, of Sullivan, Bobbi Ann Harris of Winter Harbor, Robert W. Bragdon Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Winter Harbor and James Bragdon of Winter Harbor; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Martha Black of Portland; and three stepchildren. She was predeceased by her first born child, Michael Bragdon.

A celebration of life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Winter Harbor Masonic Hall. She will be laid to rest beside her son, Michael at Winter Harbor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruthellen’s memory to New England Organ Bank, 60 First Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
