BREWER – Joan F. Hatch, 81, wife of the late Everett S. Hatch, died Oct. 10, 2011, at her home after a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1930, in Orono, daughter of Henry and Catherine (Gonyer) Clement.
Joan grew up and attended school in Orono and she and her husband were longtime residents of Brewer. She worked for many years and made many friends throughout her working career. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, where she was active in church life. She volunteered many hours at the Brewer Community Service Council. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are two children, Elizabeth Beers and her husband, Richard, of Raymond and Janice Kilroy of Brewer; her grandson and “Apple of her eye,” Konlon Kilroy of Brewer; three sisters, Alice Bower and her husband, Ray, of Lake Wales, Fla., Louise Balsted of Connecticut and Frances Mishou and her husband, Kenneth, of Stillwater; one brother, Stephen Clement and his wife, Ann, of Hill, N.H.; several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her dear friends, Helen Hardy, Mary and Bob Graffam, Joanne Relford and several other friends from the Ellen Leach Home. Joan’s family gratefully thanks the staff of MCCM and Bangor Area Visiting Nurses/ Hospice of Eastern Maine for their support and care.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Main Street, Brewer. Family and friends may visit prior to the funeral Mass 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
