BANGOR – James “Jim” Peter Bushey Sr., 76, passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Feb. 21, 1935, in Bangor, the son of Peter F. Bushey Sr. and Parchie V. (Desalvatore) Bushey.
Jim enjoyed watching harness racing, off track betting, playing card games of all kinds and taking his chance at scratch tickets. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots and NASCAR. More than anything, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Beverly (Stillings) Bushey; children, Gail Bushey and David Thompson, James Bushey Jr. and wife, Donna, Carol Bushey and Christopher Reif, Richard E. Bushey and wife, Linda, Daniel J. Bushey Sr. and wife, Karen, and Jeffrey C. Bushey; two brothers, Ronald Bushey and Peter Bushey Sr.; a sister, Avis Bushey; special friends, Marty Bouchard, Lauri Smith and Amber Poole; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Eddie Dephilippo Sr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Anthony and David Bushey; and a sister, Patricia Bushey.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at St. Paul the Apostle, St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
