PRESQUE ISLE – Philip H. Michaud, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born July 24, 1927, in Eagle Lake, the son of Thomas E. and Evelyn (Gagnon) Michaud.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946. Phil married Joan Curtis, Feb. 20, 1950. He worked as a clothing salesman and retired from W.S. Emerson Co., Brewer, in the early 1980s. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, past member of the Abnaki Club, Knights of Columbus and American Legion. Phil was an avid candle pin bowler, and bowled in the Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament in March of every year. He was an avid Yankee fan. He started golfing in the late 1960s. After his retirement, the golf course became the location of his “job.” He met many wonderful people that he would have never known had he not taken up the sport. One of the special moments in his life was introducing and showing his two grandsons, Trent and Justin, how to bowl and play golf. Recently he turned his legacy of the art of Italian sandwich making over to his granddaughter Billie.
