MILFORD – Saundra J. Sherburne, 67, died Oct. 15, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1943, in Caribou, daughter of Gordon C. and Thelma M. (Rackliffe) Raymond.
Saundra graduated from Old Town High School, class of 1962, and Maine School of Nursing, Presque Isle, class of 1964, with a licensed practical nursing degree. Saundra worked at St. Joseph’s Nursery as a charge nurse and at Orono Nursing Home as a charge nurse for nearly 25 years. She was a member of Old Town Baptist Church for 55 years. Saundra enjoyed sewing for her friends and relatives, and she sewed for the needy children of Bethleham, Pa. She was a loving and caring person and took great pride in her nursing career. She loved and devoted herself to her cats and dog for many years. Saundra will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Herbert and Inez Rackliffe. Saundra is survived by her husband of 47 years, James W. Sherburne Jr.; a daughter, Perl Lynn; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Raymond and his companion, Altie McArthur; two sisters, Sharon Morin and her husband, Joe, and Jennine Quinn and her companion, Doug Downs; two stepsisters, Donna Jellerson and family, and Judy Lamotte and family; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special dear friends, Carol Gardiner, Linda Shaw and Carol Pencak.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the home of Carol Pencak, 203 Fourth St., Old Town. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
