PRESQUE ISLE and PORTAGE LAKE – Vaughn David Lamoreau, 77, beloved husband, father and friend, died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, with his family at his side at a local health care facility. He was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Presque Isle, son of Riley and Amanda (MacDonald) Lamoreau.

He was a lifelong resident of Presque Isle. Vaughn owned and operated his own farm. He worked for Parker K. Bailey Moving Co. and McCain Foods, Easton. He served in the National Guard, and was a past member of Jaycees, Barber Shoppers and Kiwanis. Vaughn loved to play golf, enjoyed basketball, fishing and hunting. He will be sorely missed by all family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Earlyne (Deeves) Lamoreau of Presque Isle; three daughters, Cheryl Ames of Caribou, Deborah Daily and her husband, Doug, of Sheldon Springs, Vt., and Leah Girardin and her husband, Daniel, of Presque Isle; a son, David Lamoreau and his wife, Linda, of Spring, Texas; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Edna Gilmour, Marge Rath and Freda Williams. Vaughn was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Avis Bailey; and a brother, Arthur Lamoreau. The family thanks Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Home and staff for all the love and care.

Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where a celebration of life service will take place 11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
