BANGOR – Matthew W. Gould, 22, died Oct. 19, 2011 unexpectedly of natural causes at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1989, in Bangor, beloved son of Edward and Lynn (O’Rourke) Gould.

Matthew graduated from Bangor High School, class of 2007 and attended Emmanuel College, Boston. He enjoyed working with kids especially Big Brothers/Big Sisters and received the Teens Who Care Award in 2007 for his work with Little Caleb. He was on the Bangor swim team and the State Champion team, and loved spending time at the beach. Matthew’s smile would light up the room.

He is survived by his parents of Bangor; beloved sisters and brother, Kate, Kelly and Andy, all of Bangor; grandfather, Raymond O’Rourke; aunt, Sheryl O’Rourke; uncle and aunt, Danny and Diane O’Rourke, all of Rhode Island; and special friends, Brittney Dunham and family, and Jules. His was predeceased by both of his grandmothers, Rita O’Rourke and Shirley Gould.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held noon Saturday, Oct. 22, with Pastor Carl Schreiber of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at the Family Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
