BANGOR and FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Mary Casey Somerville, 85, died Oct. 21, 2011, in Bangor, after a period of declining health. She was born April 2, 1926, in Bangor, the daughter of Harold J. and Margaret I. (Higgins) Casey of East Millinocket.
Mary was raised in Bangor, Greenville and East Millinocket, and graduated from Schenck High School in 1945. Most of her adult life she lived and worked in Washington, D.C., and Falls Church, Va. She was married to Trimble “Tim” Somerville. In 2003 Mary moved to Bangor to be near her family. She enjoyed “doing lunch,” going to the movies, reading, shopping and taking trips to Bar Harbor and the Casey cottage.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lucille Casey of Pinehurst, N.C.; a brother, Charles Casey and his wife, Diana, of Bangor and Lincoln; a niece, Susan Casey Thornton and her husband, Robert, and their children of Lincoln; several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, husband; favorite aunt, Mary Higgins Sheehan; her brother, John H. Casey, Aug. 30, 2011; and by a nephew, Harold J. Casey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor. Private burial will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Mary requested no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, Mass cards would be gratefully accepted and appreciated.
