MADAWASKA – Roland “Tats” Pelletier, 75, passed away Oct. 20, 2011, at a Fort Kent hospital. Tats was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Grand Isle, son of the late Raoul and Irene (Theriault) Pelletier.
He is now living his fifth day. A man of very strong faith, Tats was a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638, Madawaska, as well as a member of American Legion Post No. 147, also of Madawaska. He was a volunteer firefighter, who was active in the state guards. Tats worked at Fraser paper for 40 years. He was a gunsmith and gun dealer for 26 years, enjoying his many collections. He enjoyed pyrotechnics. He was also very involved in the local food pantry. Tats was an avid sportsman and loved a good time, especially dancing and making people laugh.
He is survived by his darling and devoted wife of 53 years, Carlene Guerrette Pelletier of Madawaska; his two sons, Daryl and Bruce, whom he was so proud of; his daughters-in-law, Stacie and Odette, which he loved as his own; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Ellis, Chelsea and Justin. He was predeceased by his infant son, Duane; his 6-year-old daughter, Donna; two infant grandchildren, Ethan and Leah; his stepdad, Elude Deprey; and his only sibling, Jerry, in 2010.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held immediately after the service at the parish cemetery.
