BREWER – Desmond W. “Bill” Verrill, husband of the late Nellie H. Verrill, died Oct. 23, 2011, at his home. He was born April 7, 1924, in Carmel, son of Wilson T. and Clara (McPherson) Verrill.
Desmond attended Carmel schools and worked as a self-employed crane operator. He lived in Brewer since 1955. He was a life member of Benevolent Lodge No. 87, AF & AM, Carmel; a life member of John R. Chase Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Carmel; and a life member of Golden Harvest Grange No. 33, Carmel. Desmond loved to fly, especially float flying, and he owned his own airplane.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Smith of Hampden; son, Gary L. Verrill of Carmel; two grandchildren, Timothy Verrill and his wife, Cathy, of Hermon, and Michelle Verrill of Hermon; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a very close friend, Frank Craig of Brewer. Desmond was predeceased by his wife; and four brothers, Robert, Norman, Gerald and Rodney of Carmel.
In keeping with Desmond’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
