MASARDIS – Joseph Vincent Malena, 67, died Oct. 24, 2011, at his residence after spending a day with his family. He was born Dec. 22, 1943, in Hartford, Conn., the biological son of Joseph Malena and Theresa Vachon, but was raised by loving parents, Thomas and June (Randall) Boyce.
He was employed as a police officer for many years prior to his disability. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9699 of Ashland, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. Vince greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Vince is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Brown) Malena; one daughter, Cheri; a son, Ronald; a son, Travis and his wife, Anne; a son, Thomas and his fiancee, Meagan; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Mary and Sarella; and one half brother, Joseph.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Catholic Church. The family requests your presence at a celebration of life reception directly after the service. Interment will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
