LINCOLN – Byron E. Murchison, 91, husband of Helen (Ireland) Murchison, passed away Oct. 27, 2011, at Colonial Healthcare, Lincoln. He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Lincoln, son of David A. and Ethel Charlotte “Lottie” (McKinley) Murchison.

Byron was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Lincoln for more than 30 years. Byron enjoyed watching or listening to all sports games, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, and especially enjoyed being with his family at their camp in Chester.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by four children, Edgar Murchison of Mississippi, Cheryl Norris and Peter of Mattawamkeag, Byron Jr. “Johnny” Murchison of Lincoln and Sharon Breton and Paul of Mattawamkeag; five grandchildren, Edgar Murchison Jr. of Bath, Nicole Beyenberg of Stetson, Meagan Sutherland of Lincoln, Shena Murchison of Florida and Tammi Libby of Lincoln; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Colonial Healthcare for the excellent care given to Byron.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Richardson officiating.
