MILLINOCKET – Elizabeth “Betty” Pasquine was reunited with her husband Romus at the side of the Lord Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011. She was born June 19, 1923, in Millinocket, the daughter of Agostino and Laurenza (Medici) Mascetta.
She graduated from Stearns High School in 1941, and married her husband in 1946.
They were married for 57 years, and together they raised five children, handing down their proud Italian heritage and instilling the value of strong family bonds. Betty was a lifelong resident of “Little Italy” and a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Betty was a very kind and gentle spirit. She was a great wife and the best mother a child could ask for. Her family was her life. She loved to go shopping, listen to Big Band music and cook. Her door was always open to family and friends, and it was common to walk in to the sounds of Glenn Miller on the stereo and the smell of baked goodies in the oven. Betty’s happiest times were having the kitchen table surrounded by family and friends enjoying the food she prepared with a labor of love.
You always left Betty’s home with your heart full of love and your belly full of cookies!
Strong and brave to the very end, Betty is survived by her two sons, Paul and Karyn Pasquine of Bangor and their children, Steven and Laura, and Mike and Cyndi Pasquine of Old Town; three daughters, Ginny Paradis of Mexico, Maine, and her daughter, Christina, and her fiance, Dan, Mary Pinette of Millinocket and Laurie Tibbitts and her husband, Kevin, of Windham and their children, Nicole and Allyson; her sister, Norma Mascetta; a brother-in-law, Frank Pasquine; a sister-in-law, Iola Pasquine; a very special nephew and coffee buddy, Doug Adams; many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom all were loved by her. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by her siblings, Carlo, Dennis, Americo, Helen, Edith, Joseph, Elvera and Mickey; and a son-in-law, Paul Paradis. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the certified nurses’ aides and nurses at Ross Manor for the excellent care and attention given to Betty.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with Deacon Dan Watson officiating. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
