LAS VEGAS – John Moreshead, 33, died suddenly Oct. 30, 2011, in Las Vegas. He was born May 12, 1978, in Calais, and was raised in Baring.
He attended local schools, graduating in 1996 from Calais High School. He then attended the University of Maine at Farmington. John was a big man, standing 6 foot 4 inches, but was a big teddy bear at heart. He had a fun loving, goofy personality and was an amazing artist. His passion for drawing began when he was old enough to pick up a pencil. He drew a little bit of everything, but his main focus was comics. John moved to Las Vegas several years ago and at the time of his death was employed at Yack Construction, Las Vegas. John was fortunate to have a wonderful work family that he loved greatly, Rodney and Natalie Yack, and Martin and Linda Yack, and their extended family.
John was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Claudette Hall, and Herbert and Ella Moreshead. He is survived by his wife, Kelly of Las Vegas; son, Grifyn; stepdaughter, Bailey, both of Las Vegas; son, Gavyn; his former wife and mother of Gavyn, Becky Fisk, both of Dover-Foxcroft; parents, Paul and Marye Moreshead of Casco; two brothers, Sean Moreshead and his wife, Belinda, of Baring, and Chad Moreshead and his wife, Laurie, of Westbrook; and sister, Jessica Tracy and her husband, Ben, of Winterport.
Services for John will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at Palm Mortuary Northwest, Las Vegas, and 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Second Baptist Church, Church Street, Calais. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John Moreshead Memorial Children’s Fund, U.S. Bank, Montecito Office, 7005 North Durango Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89149.
