MADAWASKA – Roland Michaud, 81, died peacefully, Nov. 9, 2011, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Madawaska, son of Patrick and Yvonne (Lavigne) Michaud.

Roland and his wife owned and operated Roland’s Rendezvou, Madawaska, for 27 years. He was a member of Madawaska Fire Department for many years. Roland enjoyed hunting, especially spending time at his camp on Long Lake.

He is survived by three daughters, Carmen and her husband, Allen Bouchard, of Soldier Pond, Pat and her husband, James Thibeault, of Frenchville, and Fernande and her husband, Michael Salvail, of Brunswick; one son, Roland Jr. and his wife, Bernadette Michaud, of Madawaska; seven grandchildren, Meagan, Benjamin, Whitney, Tyler, Kayla, Connor and Olivia; one great-granddaughter, Lilly; one sister-in-law, Winette Michaud; and one brother-in-law, William Gill. In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his wife, Loretta (Bouchard) Michaud, in 2006; one grandson, Travis Michaud, in 1991; two brothers, Armand and Normand Michaud; and two sisters, Yvette and Georgette.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held immediately after the service at the parish cemetery.
