KENDUSKEAG – Carroll F. Miller, 77, passed away peacefully in his self-built Kenduskeag home Nov. 12, 2011, after bravely struggling with various illnesses. Carroll was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Hampden, the son of Harold and Viola (Stillman) Miller.
An intelligent man with a talent for using his hands, Carroll worked in a variety of settings including the city of Bangor Department of Transportation, Northeastern Log Homes and his own trucking business. Carroll served his country in the Army National Guard and his local community as a selectman for Kenduskeag. He enjoyed being a member of Hermon Skeet Club and was involved in starting the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race. He was a good and honest man who loved his children and gave greatly to his friends, community and family throughout his life. His love for animals was evident by the smile they always brought to his face.
Carroll is survived by his dear friend, companion and caregiver, Audrey Marston; his former wife, “Judy” Julia (Blake); children, Jaryl Cave and her husband, John, of Langley, Wash., Joyce Foreman and her husband, James, of Chesapeake, Va., and Harold Miller and his friend, Christine, of Eddington; a son-in-law, Richard Haverlock of Lake Mary, Fla.; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Amelia, Ryan, Liana, Katelyn and Elizabeth; his nieces and nephews; a sister, Beverly Campbell; and special friends, Richard and Sherri Horn, the McCullough family, Howard Patterson and many others. He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Haverlock of Lake Mary, Fla. A warm thank you to the folks at Columbia Street Baptist Church who built a ramp allowing Carroll to enjoy his gardens and getting out this past summer, and to the many doctors and nurses who helped care for him in recent years.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Kenduskeag Union Church with a reception afterward. This church held a special place in Carroll’s heart and donations may be made to it in Carroll’s memory. Cremation arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
