CARMEL – David R. Hatch, 68, died unexpectedly Nov. 17, 2011, in Plymouth, while hunting. He was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Westerly, R.I., son of Amasa and Elsie (Leach) Hatch.
He was a graduate of Rockport High School. David was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. David married Frances Mahon. For more than 30 years David worked as second shift supervisor at Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna. After leaving the woolen mill he worked side by side with his wife as custodians at Bangor International Airport for three years. He also worked at various other jobs including custodial and security. David’s true love was his family, then fishing and then hunting.
He is survived by his “significant other” his wife, Frances Hatch of Carmel; two children, Frank Hatch and Jeannie Hatch, both of Carmel; three “over loved, and could do no wrong” grandchildren, Tyler Hatch, Abbie Hatch and Riley Hatch, all of Carmel; two sisters, Brenda Rivers of Florida, and Ruthie Pelkey and her husband, Richard, of Stetson; two brothers, Steve Hatch and his wife, Pat, of North Anson, and Robert Hatch and his wife, Martha, of Plymouth; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered by his best friends, Donnie and Martha Knight; and by Frances’ family.
Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Hatch family to help with expenses.
