BLUE HILL and BROOKSVILLE – Richard E. Black, 80, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his home in Blue Hill with his loving family by his side. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Brooksville, son of Lewis and Iva (Snow) Black.
He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Suzanne (Gray) Black; sister, Mary Snow; two daughters, Susan Varnum and husband, Albert, and Robin Mitchell and husband, John; son, Andrew and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Seth, Katey, Becky, Eric, Paul, Matthew and Josh; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Nettie and Liam. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Peggy, Gertrude, Madlyn, Robert, Ernest, Archie and William.
